Expert Imaging for All Your Medical Needs

Medical Imaging is the process of creating visual representations of the interior of a body for clinical analysis and medical intervention. This is done using various techniques such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI, PET, and Ultrasound. At Prairie Ridge, these services are performed by experienced technicians and interpreted by licensed radiologists.

HIGH-QUALITY SERVICES

Medical Imaging Services

Our services include the following:

  • Bone Densitometry: A bone density test measures bone strength to determine risk for osteoporosis.
  • Computerized Tomography (CT): A CT takes multiple images of the body by using an x-ray beam and computer processing.
  • 3D Mammography: A mammogram is a breast X-ray. Yearly mammograms are recommended for women over the age of 40. (Walk-in mammograms available last Tuesday of every month.) Early evening appointments available.
  • Digital X-Rays: Services include images of the head, neck, chest, abdomen, spine, pelvis, and extremities. X-rays are available at the main hospital in Columbus and our Beaver Dam clinic.
  • Echocardiogram: An ultrasound test that checks the structure and function of your heart
  • Fluoroscopy Services: Studies include but are not limited to: contrasted GI and GU exams, joint injections for pain relief, myelograms, and swallow studies.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): Magnetic resonance imaging is a technique that uses a magnetic field and computer-generated radio waves to create cross-sectional images of the body. MRIs are able to detect injuries, diseases, and disorders affecting tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and bone. If you are claustrophobic, please discuss this with your doctor before the appointment (Saturday appointments available).
  • PET/CT: A positron emission tomography (PET) scan is an imaging test that helps reveal how tissues and organs are functioning and is an effective way to examine the chemical activity in parts of the body. It may help identify a variety of conditions, including many cancers, heart disease, and brain disorders.
  • Nuclear Medicine: This requires an injection of a radioactive isotope into a vein. Common exams are bone, cardiac, lung, and thyroid.
  • Ultrasound Services: Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images within the body without the use of an X-ray. The images show the structure and movement of your body’s internal organs as well as blood flow. Ultrasound is often used for obstetrics, gynecologic disorders, and abdominal, musculoskeletal, and transplant imaging. It is also used for guidance during procedures and surgery.
